nice to meet you.

My love for digital video editing blossomed around 13 years old. I would spend my evenings avoiding all math homework, and piecing together PCD music video footage with random dance tracks. How simple life was!

I graduated from Langara College with a Digital Film Production Program Certificate and have continued my development through intermediate and advanced post-production training courses. Since then, I have utilized my training to document a variety of people and subjects such as musicians, friends, colleagues, youth, special events, food & beverage, behind the scenes, dance, and myself. Over the years, this has allowed me to improve my video production skills and build a clientele, all while collaborating with team members to advance production value.

In 2018, I officially created Solay Creative Media as a sole proprietorship and began to freelance casually on the side, while working multiple other jobs. After a series of events, resulting in the loss of steady income in the spring of 2020 (who else can relate?) I decided to FINALLY take the leap and began working for myself full-time - doing what makes my heart happy. This is just the beginning!

in 2014

I spent a chunk of time travelling. Most of the travelling was done around British Columbia (and down into California) in an '84 VW Vanagon. While that van now lives full time in Pemberton, that livin' and workin' in a vehicle feeling does not get old. So summer 2020, I took it upon myself to camperize my '98 Honda CR-V - and I gotta say I'm pretty proud! She needs a few renovations, but you can often find me editing away in the back of Elphie P (that's her name) even if it's just in the driveway.

on a more personal note

something i'm proud of:

In June 2018, I created #YESPROJECT.
I felt that I was too comfortable with being comfortable, and reached out to my peers through social media platforms. I announced that for the following summer months, I would say “yes” to anything and anyone, within reason. I documented my experiences, and formed the summer into 3 episodes. This project did wonders for both my personal and professional development, as well as played a key role in my realization of the importance of my own mental health that year, (and all the years to come!)
